About Calabria

Calabria, the southern most ‘toe’ of the Italian ‘boot’, is described by many to be the Mediterranean’s best kept secret, offering a glimpse of authentic Italy.  However, to Italians, particularly those from the busier cities of the North, it is a very popular tourist area, which they often refer to as the ‘Real Riveria’.

Meandering through Calabria is like stepping back in time. Only recently discovered by tourists, this region has retained its authentic feel and natural beauty. On the beaches find hideaway grottos and secluded coves – perfect for romance and relaxation. While for families, gently sloping beaches makes a safe place for kids to play.

The area basks in sun much of the year round with summer temperatures often in the 30 – 40C range, whilst winters are mild with temperatures rarely dropping below 10 C. These temperatures are complemented by the presense of a cooling coastal breeze. The warm temperatures and extended summer season mean this is an area that can be enjoyed much of the year round, with bathing in the sea continuing as late as November !
